Workshop Description and Topic
There is a close correlation between Chaplaincy and Community Psychology. Maseko et..al 2017 defines “Community psychology as the study of understanding people within their worlds and using the same understanding to improve their wellbeing”. Chaplaincy Community Psychology has to do with identifying a chaplaincy problem in the community and finding solutions to address that problem. This paper presents Council of Chaplaincy Ministry in Malawi as a community change agent for the professional development chaplains in Africa particularly in the country of Malawi. It further highlights progress, prospects and challenges encountered in the professional development of chaplaincy ministry in Malawi. Additionally, it extrapolates how chaplaincy is linked to the country’s to the strategic national development framework of Malawi agenda 2030.
